Meet Makenzie Morgan Gomez - A Genuine Inspiration!

Meet Makenzie Morgan Gomez. Makenzie is a dynamically disabled performer who recently released an A Chorus Line inspired performance video, 'Music and the Mirror (& Mobility Aids)'. It is a reinterpretation of a performance in the Hamlisch/Kleban "award winning" musical and features the use of mobility aids, including Makenzie's smartCRUTCHes, that worked best to support her during the performance.

Makenzie danced professionally for many years before developing autoimmune disorder symptoms and musculoskeletal chronic pain but did not let that get in her way! She started using just a cane for a couple of years before deciding to look into a more supportive mobility aid.

"I now know that I have Hypermobility Spectrum Disorder (HSD) and am soon to undergo the testing for hEDS, so it makes sense as to why my wrists and finger joints felt so loose and unsteady when using a cane. After trying and promptly returning inexpensive Amazon forearm crutches, I looked up reviews for the more popular crutch brands and found that the adjustable angle feature of smartCRUTCH seemed the most compelling for my symptoms, especially having never owned forearm crutches before and not knowing what to expect when using them. It seemed like hEDS/HSD folx tend to appreciate the features of smartCRUTCH as well, which felt like further endorsement to encourage me to choose smartCRUTCH. I feel so supported when using my smartCRUTCHes, and always feel comforted knowing I can change the angle of the forearm cuff at any time if a new area or joint needs a break. My wrists are so much happier too!"

We are thrilled to know that Makenzie's smartCRUTCHes have been a great help but more than that, we are greatly inspired by her determination and perseverance to continue to dance and perform. Check out this article that shares more about Makenzie and includes a video of her performance. Truly inspiring!!
