I know this was originally for bikers, but it's awesome for throwing on when walking to work or cross country skiing.
The ONLY reason I'm not giving it 5 star is the sticker came off pretty fast
I have severe scoliosis and these poles are so comfortable and supportive - they really help me keep moving! I have used regular trekking poles in the past, but I would get hand fatigue and sometimes even numbness in my hands. I have used a cane in the past, but I would get both hand and shoulder pain with a cane. The York Nordic Motivator poles have solved both of these issues. I highly recommend them. I also strongly recommend getting a FlexTip base with a spring as for the added shock absorption and a longer life for the tips - the typical rubber tips don't last long if you walk a lot. Thank you for developing these poles!
Thrilled you love them!
These are so much more comfortable than under arm crutches!
I had a broken wrist and need crutches that did not put so much pressure on my wrist. These were perfect! I highly recommend them!
As a disabled person who still works full time, this crutch just isn’t for me. I need the cuff/platform to move easily on a swivel so I can use that arm to do my job. I work in healthcare (clinic) and even the simplest actions such as turning on lights as I enter an exam room or doing a quick test on a patient require me to completely reset the platform. I’m sure there are people who this type of setup works well for, it’s just not for my own situation. I wish I had realized that before I ordered.
These trekking poles are sturdy and have fun designs. The handles are very comfortable and provide great support for balance on uneven surfaces or on even surfaces if you have balance problems. The only downside is that if you are using them in a therapy clinic to trial for patients, adjusting the height is not simple and it takes time to get both sides even. For that purpose, button settings would be easier. But if you are purchasing for a single person use, then once they are adjusted for the height, they stay put.
All other tips I’ve tried barely last 2 or 3 months which is pathetic why even sell them if they are that useless? That’s why I only use these tips, I actually get a decent amount of time out of them
These flip locks are easy to use and hold my poles firmly at the right height. I know that I will need to keep tabs on these flip locks to make sure they don't come lose and fall off. I am VERY pleased that, in addition to the flip lock that I ordered to replace a lost one on my foldable poles, York Nordic included an extra set for my new poles. That really impressed me!
I bought these motivator poles to every-day use at home to keep my gait correct and reduce stress on my joints. I already have a pair of the folding ones for travel. My wrists thank me for using poles with the grips these have that let my wrist rest and my thumb stay in a position that reduces stress on my hand and wrist. My physical therapist is quite impressed with my poles. And I get compliments on the appearance of my poles!
These are really nice to have! I really like how the top base part moves to change the position of your forearm/elbow. That's why I got these vs traditional forearm crutches was because my cane always ends up hurting my shoulder or my elbow and I was hoping these would be nicer!
However, they're pretty bulky and don't collapse/fold so there's no easy way to transport them or store them. I also feel like a giant billboard and the design is kinda ruined because of it... The brand name is displayed in LARGE letters in 3 places.. both sides of the arm mechanism at top and down the bar of the crutch... I understand having to advertise the brand name but even one side of the arm mechanism would be okay? Or just down the bar? I feel like it just kinda ruins the design.
I do overall enjoy these crutches and believe them to be helpful and incredibly beneficial when you've got multiple joint pain issues and not just lower body issues.
I had a comibnation ear infection (which threw me off balance compltely) and an emotional shock which stopped me in my tracks (literally).
These poles have set me back on course. Only three days in but I'm moving again. Love them!
I was impressed by the customization of the forearm weight bearing crutch and the prompt customer support for how to adapt the crutch for my unique circumstances.
I highly recommend the forearm crutch.
Thanks!
I love these poles. They are sturdy and give me confidence. My only complaint is the handle which I find awkward but hope to get used to over time.
I have had other really nice walking poles, but the handgrips for the York Nordic poles are a real game changer. I’m taking these on vacation!
I needed to get these ice grips with expedited shipping before the winter storm hit. I reached out to the company and received excellent customer service. They shipped the product same day, and I received it in time. It really helped me to not slip on the ice.
The poles are adjustable to just the right height. They are sturdy enough to stop, lean, and rest (and I’m a big person). Customer service was quick and helpful. Would recommend.
We purchased smart crutches for our 18-year-old daughter who has a connective tissue disorder that causes her significant pain and joint dislocation issues. While our insurance wouldn’t cover the smart crutches, we ordered them anyway and boy are we glad we did! On her very first day with Smart Crutches her pain was decreased & she was able to sleep through the night for the first time in years!! These Smart Crutches are worth their weight in gold. They reduce her pain level and help her navigate physically! If you struggle with mobility issues and are considering Smart Crutches GET THEM! You will not be disappointed!
I love the print but do not like that it is plastered with your companies name website and phone number. It kind of ruins the vibe. I dont mind that info being on the shift of the crutch but to put it on the part that is decorative doesn't make sense.
Love the spring assist feature
I needed something for balance and partial weight bearing and a cane was not cutting it. I tried multiple styles and they caused too much strain on my hand, wrists, and elbow joints. I looked at this for months before taking the plunge because I couldn’t try it first. But, finally, I decided to pick a side and give one a go. I’m so glad I did. I plan to order one for the other side, because you just never know which joint you’re going to need to support with hEDS or if you’re going to have a flair or injury in an upper joint making that arm not useable.
They plaster their name and logo and telephone number three times on each crutch, if you choose a pattern instead of basic black…on both sides/ bottom of the cuff (more is covered than not) and again on the shaft. It’s impossible not to look like a walking advertisement for them, even after paying premium prices. It embarrassing, disgusting and exploitation. This is not the way to treat people, much less paying customers.
You gotta grab a set of these! They are worth every penny. I love how they stabilize my crutches when they are standing alone by themselves. You are also able to hang things on your crutches if you need to. You gotta get some.
Somehow, I missed that I did not need to order extras of these, two of them came on my poles. So I shouldn’t have spent the extra 20 bucks but whatever, now I have backups.
