Some may know that in medical slang a ‘zebra’ is a term doctors use for a rare disease or unusual diagnosis. The Ehlers-Danlos Society has a great explanation on the history of how that originated and why they chose it as a symbol.
Because smartCRUTCH is often used by those with Ehlers-Danlos syndrome and hypermobility spectrum disorder, it made perfect sense to create a design that reflected the individuality of those suffering with rare afflictions.
