Ipeleng Khunou, also known fondly as Crazylegs @ckrazylegz by his peers, runs marathons to raise money for the Nelson Mandela Children's Fund, and he runs them on smartCRUTCH.
Check out his story on this 1-minute “My disease will not keep me off my feet.” Running from Pretoria to Cape Town on crutches.
Here's an excerpt from an interview with Jacaranda FM.com
"... He was at a point in his life where he was overweight and unhealthy. At 120kg he decided to get off of his butt and do something to change his life and his fitness. Thus he began a journey that is very quickly changing his life, and loads of others around him. Finishing The Two Oceans is hard, 21km of pure mental strength and that's for an athlete without any setbacks. Ipeleng was born with a very rare condition - Septo Optic Dysplasia - which makes him off balance. It took an incredible feat of human strength and will for Ipeleng to finish the race. Running with crutches, blisters and cuts on his hands didn't stop him. He finished and is already planning his next adventure! Speaking to me last week, he said the applause at the end of a race was awesome, but it wasn't enough, he wants to make a difference, and so he ran the two Oceans for the Nelson Mandela Children's Fund."

My second purchase of the rubber tips. Well made, durable and fit my existing poles.
Finally poles for someone taller. These things are great, super sturdy with grips that fit my hands.
I love my new foldable walking poles. They are so convenient to use when out hiking. Recently brought them with me to the Berkshires; they made trekking through the snow so easy!
It's really made my recovery easier (I broke my ankle) and I'm sure it will be useful for other mobility issues I have.
Don't get me wrong they're useful. They help the crutches stand up and be less likely to tip. But honestly thats all the praise I can give them. The main issue I have is that the to top magnets piece are not long enough to extend past the crutch cuff. This results in the magnets not being able to fully make contact SIGNIFICANTLY reducing their ability to stick together. The advertisements are more tame here on smart crutchs than geckos own site but you cannot carry one and support the other because without the magnets making that full contact they aren't strong enough to support the weight. Additionally (not smart crutches fault) the wrist straps gecko sells are not long enough to reach your wrists even on the smallest forearm setting, which I use. I use them every day, but I wish they were better.
