Darryn August is a South Africa modern day hero who is learning to walk again, and has his sights set on the Paralympics.
: We'd like to think that if we witness a life-or-death situation, we would all jump to assist. The reality, of course, is that the vast majority of people stand around and stare, hoping that someone else will come along. For some the urge to help is sporadic, for others, like real-life superhero Darryn August, the drive to assist has run strongly through his veins from childhood.
Excerpt from News24.com "Left with a disability after trying to stop a train robbery, Darryn August, a man who never backs down from a challenge, now has his sights set on emerging victorious on a different platform - the Paralympic Games. Following a bleak prognosis after being hit with a crowbar, stabbed in the head and breaking his spine, the 28-year-old's determination to recover and walk again no longer seems futile as he now manages to get around on crutches for short periods...".
When smartCRUTCH heard Darryn had his sights set on walking with crutches, a pair of smartCRUTCH were quickly sent his way. We wish him well and look forward to seeing his progress.
Here is Darryn with his new blue smartCRUTCH.

I needed new straps (I lost one).
I easily ordered them.
I received them in just a few days.
Exactly what I wanted,
Perfect!!😊
I bought the Motivator and travel Motivator poles for my husband. He has been getting out twice a day to walk. The poles give him better stability and help him to walk a bit faster. He is getting used to the hand grip.
I am traveling overseas next month and needed a crutch that I was able to dismantle and pack in my bag or put in overhead bin on the plane. Not only is the crutch fun looking it matched all my needs. The customer service was a 10.
The cuff design is wonderful! Really sweet of Lauren to think and come up with such a brilliant idea for Smartcrutch users!
I have found these crutches to be very helpful getting around with (probable) EDS. They were very easy to set up and feel great. The only negative is that the padding in the cuffs falls off constantly, so I am going to have to adhere them another way. I almost didn't buy these because of the cost, but I'm glad I went for it, and I would recommend these to anyone with similar issues.
